For the Prada S/S2015 woman show, AMO designs indoor dunes.

In between a cave, a desert, and an indoor playground, the set up questions the relationship between outdoor and indoor: purple colored sand invade the space, redefining the existing architecture elements, modifying proportions, turning the show into an unexpected landscape.

Based on a concentric organization, the room develops around the central and irregular sand surface: a series of brown carpet covered steps runs along the perimeter, while a thin line of technical lights marks the perfectly white walls as a horizon. Models weave along the dunes edges confronting the regularly lined up audience. The combination between the irregular sand volumes and the geometry of the tribunes modifies constantly the relationship between the spectators and the fashion.

Before taking place orderly around the dunes, the audience reaches the show space after climbing over steps and having a privileged overview of the sand landscape.

Per la sfilata Prada Donna P/E 2015, AMO progetta imponenti dune indoor.

A metà strada tra una grotta, un deserto e un parco giochi al coperto, l’allestimento mette in discussione la relazione tra indoor e outdoor: sabbia viola invade lo spazio, ridefinendo gli elementi architettonici esistenti, modificando le proporzioni e tramutando lo show in un paesaggio inaspettato.

Seguendo una disposizione concentrica, lo spazio si sviluppa intorno all’irregolare superficie sabbiosa, posta al centro della scena: una serie di gradini rivestiti in moquette marrone corre lungo il perimetro, mentre una sottile linea di luci tecniche segna le immacolate pareti bianche come un orizzonte. Le modelle sfilano sinuosamente tra le dune, fronteggiando il pubblico allineato regolarmente. Il connubio tra i volumi irregolari delle dune e le geometrie rigorose delle tribune modifica costantemente il rapporto tra gli spettatori e la moda.

Prima di accomodarsi ordinatamente intorno alle dune, il pubblico raggiunge lo spazio della sfilata salendo una gradinata e si gode una vista privilegiata sul paesaggio sabbioso.

Stage

The process of designing a set for a fashion show strongly resonates with the one of theatrical performance: in both cases characters, space and music come together into a single concept, each one contributing to the unique experience of the audience.

For the FW 2014/15 Men Show, AMO designs a set as an experimental and informal stage for performance. A large 1m high platform occupies the center of the room. The majority of the audience is orderly arranged around the central stage, while the room is bordered on all sides by metal scaffolding serving as balcony to the rest of the public. Different geometric excavations punctuate the central stage; surprisingly part of the audience sits inside these pockets, becoming part of the overall scenography of the show. Models weave on the central stage around the audience, while the rest of the public experiences the show all around from multiple points of views. The space is neutral: the central stage is entirely covered in grey felt, while the metal structured of the balcony is cladded all along the perimeter with a curved natural metal mesh. Metal reoccurs in the pockets of the central platform, while felt dominates the main entrance.

Music

Music includes a list of tracks, selected and mixed by Frédéric Sanchez - The Ballad of Sexual Obsession by Nina Hagen and Ben Frost’s Peter Venkman Pt. 1 Gluteus Maximus remix to name a few; as well as live exclusive lyrics adapted and performed by a concert group called L’Usignolo. Amongst the others, some pieces taken from Pina Bausch shows side by side with transcriptions by Kurt Weill.

 

Prada Uomo Autunno/Inverno 2014/2015

Palco

Il processo di progettazione di un set per una sfilata di moda corre in parallelo a quello delle performance teatrali: in entrambi i casi, i personaggi, lo spazio e la musica si fondono in un unico concetto, dove ognuno contribuisce all’esperienza unica del pubblico. Per la sfilata Prada Uomo Autunno/Inverno 2014/15, AMO progetta un set come un palco sperimentale e informale di una performance. Una grande piattaforma alta 1m occupa il centro della sala. La gran parte del pubblico è ordinatamente disposta intorno al palco centrale, mentre la sala è bordata su tutti i lati da impalcature metalliche che fungono da balconata al resto del pubblico. Diversi scavi geometrici costellano il palco centrale; ci si stupisce nel notare che parte del pubblico siede all’interno di queste buche, diventando parte della scenografia complessiva della sfilata. I modelli serpeggiano sul palco centrale intorno al pubblico, mentre il resto dei presenti si gode la sfilata intorno al palco da prospettive multiple. Lo spazio è neutrale: il palco centrale è interamente coperto da feltro grigio, mentre la struttura metallica della balconata è avvolta lungo tutto il perimetro da una rete metallica naturale ondulata. Il metallo riappare nelle buche della piattaforma centrale, mentre il feltro domina l’ingresso principale.

La musica include brani selezionati e mixati da Frédéric Sanchez tra cui the Ballad of Sexual Obsession di Nina Hagen e Peter Venkman Pt. 1 Gluteus Maximus remix di Ben Frost; e brani riadattati in esclusiva per Prada, suonati da un’orchestra dal vivo – il gruppo L’Usignolo - tra cui alcuni passi tratti da spettacoli di Pina Bausch affiancati a trascrizioni di Kurt Weill.

Show space description

 

Visitors experience a menacing paradise.

Models weave in front of a small abstract town that invades the show space, on the background of a flat painted blue sky.

The town follows a precise diagonal direction addressing the main entrance and redefining the borders of the main room.

Modern murals are painted on the town facades: they represent a collection of abstract and graphic motives that shape the overall menacing atmosphere, mixing tropical elements with unexpected contrasting details. Murals complement and interact with the collection as models proceed in front of the set.

The whole intervention achieves a radical transformation of the existing space through simple construction and mural techniques.

Descrizione dello spazio sfilata

 

I visitatori si ritrovano in un paradiso minaccioso.

I modelli camminano davanti a una piccola città astratta, che invade lo spazio della sala sfilata; sullo sfondo un piatto cielo azzurro dipinto.

La città segue una direzione precisa, in diagonale, che va verso l'ingresso principale e ridisegna i confini della sala.

Sulle facciate della città sono dipinti murales moderni: rappresentano una serie di motivi astratti e grafici che definiscono un'atmosfera minacciosa, abbinando elementi tropicali a inattesi dettagli a contrasto. I murales completano la collezione e interagiscono con essa mentre i modelli sfilano davanti al set.

Nell'insieme, l'allestimento trasforma in maniera radicale lo spazio esistente attraverso semplici elementi architettonici e murales.
