Prada - Resort 2016 Advertising Campaign

Prada Resort 2016 Advertising Campaign

Steven Meisel captures a series of informal portraits for Prada’s Resort 2016 advertising campaign. Pop decorativism is subverted by industrial minimalism, as his muses lock us in an authoritative gaze. Lexi Boling, Meghan Collison, Ina Jensen, Lineisy Montero, Julia Nobis and Greta Varlese are bad girls turned good, or good girls turned bad, exuding a kind of unhinged innocence. The cool knowingness of their gaze is offset by expressive body language, hands on hips or folded across the body, arms swinging as if in dance. The concept of post-modesty and luxury are investigated in a dialogue of contrasts and dichotomies. High impact pieces, with soft silhouettes, are based on the simple T-shirt. Paillette-covered coats, leather shifts and skin-tight printed sweaters are layered over extra-long striped sleeves. Multi-coloured bags in printed or perforated leathers and bold, oversize earrings are all part of the story. Decorativism, through the serial repetition of symbols recalls the concept of post-pop art. Simplicity becomes uniqueness. An anonymous silver backdrop suggesting a post-industrial landscape jars with this sensual overload, suggesting the collection’s recurring rabbit motif is perhaps not as naive as it seems. Shadow falls across the images, reminding us darkness and light often come entwined. The gaze of the muses is both complex and seductive, warning anyone following them down this particular rabbit hole to expect the unexpected.

Campagna pubblicitaria Prada Resort 2016

The Iconoclasts

Prada The Iconoclasts returns for its third chapter during the international fashion weeks. Three of cinema’s most acclaimed, visionary costume designers take over the visual identities of three Prada flagship stores. They each bring their refined sense of filmic style and drama. Prada New York Broadway will be transformed by MICHAEL WILKINSON + TIM MARTIN between February 12th to February 19th.

ARIANNE PHILLIPS dresses the Prada Old Bond Street, London store from February 20th to February 24th.
And during March 5th till March 11th, Paris’ Prada Faubourg Saint Honoré store will host the legendary MILENA CANONERO. This step towards collaborating with costume designers is a natural evolution for Prada The Iconoclasts, which previously invited leading fashion editors. Prada is not only committed to the experimental encounter between fashion and other worlds, but it continues to be moved by cinema’s most brilliant auteurs.

MICHAEL WILKINSON + TIM MARTIN:
“Miuccia Prada’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection inspired us to imagine a party to end all parties. The end of disco. An After Party for New York’s most elite, the most avant-garde, a place where people strut and swagger, uptown meets downtown, celebrity meets street style. Each character is an individual, each is a non-conformist, each parties like it’s 1979. No one wants to leave, because, if they do, the fantasy will vanish.”

ARIANNE PHILLIPS:
“Fashion, like film, is about dreaming and telling stories so this seemed like a natural conversation for me to have with the very inspiring and beautiful Spring/Summer 2015 collection.”
MILENA CANONERO:
“I imagined interpreting the Prada Spring/Summer 2015 collection through the filter of the five elements and their interconnection. Like feng shui, the ancient Chinese philosophy inspired by Taoism that teaches us to harmonise our surroundings with the environment and nature, I felt this philosophy was appropriate to this specific, rich and varied collection by Miuccia Prada. Drawing on my background in film, photography and painting, I sought to reinterpret the collection through the four elements – water, fire, air and earth – and create imaginary situations that culminate in the fifth element, human love.”
MICHAEL WILKINSON + TIM MARTIN

MICHAEL WILKINSON and TIM MARTIN recently created WilkinsonMartin, a company at the intersection of film, design and fashion.

Michael Wilkinson is an award-winning costume designer. Variety magazine recently included Wilkinson in their BELOW THE LINE IMPACT list of filmmakers that have significant impact in their field of expertise. Michael has been nominated for an Oscar and a BAFTA Award, and has won Costume Designers Guild Awards, Saturn Awards, a Hollywood Film Festival Award and a Hamilton Behind the Camera Award. Corners / Martino Gamper for Prada

Corners is an evolutionary window design concept by Martino Gamper in collaboration with Prada which pays homage to the humble corner.
The design draws its inspiration from perspective, fragments and contrasts between natural materials.
Those elements are enhanced by the simplicity of a corner which is a common thread for all the displays.
Corners is a space within a space, making each display a unique story designed to evolve with the seasons.

The installation will be on display until the end of March in all Prada stores worldwide.

Prada Menswear Spring/Summer 2015 Campaign

There are forces in feelings, and feelings in things. Attesting to this tangible truth are a series of graphic action portraits for Prada’s Spring/Summer 2015 Menswear campaign.
Four of today’s leading men lend their screen presence to an act of photographic forensics: Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars; Men, Women and Children; Divergent; and the upcoming Insurgent), Ethan Hawke (The ‘Before’ Trilogy; Boyhood; Predestination; Regression), Jack O’Connell (Unbroken; Starred Up; ‘71) and Miles Teller (The Spectacular Now; Whiplash; The Fantastic Four).
Photographer Craig McDean shoots the cinematic cast between London and New York. But the sense of place in is more psychological than geographical. Close-ups of hands, faces and agitated outlines conjure a sense of the unknown.
Objectsknife, orange, dice, prism, compass, pen, lens, pendulumare picked up, moved, balanced. Pensively scrutinized. Familiar things become less than familiar the more they’re looked at. As if the magical forces that make the world seem so normal have, for an indeterminately short time, revealed their strangeness.
Stitching is the leitmotiv of the collection. A graphic effect — large, small, in contrasting colours — revolutionizing and mixing classic codes while creating new ones. Modern proportions and silhouettes invoke the 1970s. Not as pastiche but pure peculiarity.
The images’ muted colour switches to bold black and white, then back again, mirroring the four actors’ fragmented mental focus. Silence, a space for secrets. In these photographs each of their personalities effortlessly perform new secrets.

Campagna pubblicitaria Prada Uomo Primavera/Estate 2015
