Monique Lhuillier debuted her Fall 2014 Runway
Collection at New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Saturday, February 8th
at 6:00pm in The Theatre at Lincoln Center.
The fall collection is bold and dramatic, with a hint
of a romantic dark side. Lhuillier pairs signature femininity with a
juxtaposition of modern architectural details and Old World Parisian couture to
create a mysteriously provocative collection.
This season is about fusing structure and fluidity --
giving soft tulle a contemporary look with unexpected complements of abstract
skeletal embroidery, patent leather belts cinching sleek silhouettes and
merging glistening cobwebs of cotton lace with vinyl to create a twist on the
traditional trench coat. Confetti florals and elegant embroidery are combined
with techno leather, futuristic neoprene and geometric guipure lace. Modern
shapes are accented by striking angled hemlines that extend from stirring minis,
to coy high-lows and brushing trains for a glimpse of a secret within.
The shoe collection features sheer lace booties,
delicate tall shaft lace boots offset with patent leather, brushed suede and
hardware. Asymmetrical graphic mules and crystal encrusted sandals evoke a
glamorous and dramatic look.
In attendance were Anna Kendrick, Emmy Rossum, Jamie Chung, Cat Deely,
Louise Roe and Julie Henderson, all dressed in Monique Lhuillier
