GITANE COLLECTION by Carolina Bucci

The Smile necklace studded in diamonds, opals and purple jade is just one of the new silhouettes from the Gitane collection - a carefree mix of exotic femininity and old-world magic

Gitane, which means gypsy woman, is full of passion and colour and movement

The Gitane collection – French for gypsy woman – is a delicate, carefree mix of exotic femininity and old-world magic. Jewellery that is at once full of passion and mysticism, colour and movement.

The owl is a central character in this collection. Knowing and yet unknowable, the nocturnal owl features in pendants where opal eyes blink back at you as the light catches them. In other pieces the owl’s feathers are picked out in rings and large cuffs – 18kt gold worked to take on the texture of plumage. “I wanted to do something a little different with this collection,” Carolina Bucci explains, “and these echo Verdura’s flamboyant pieces that I love so much.”
The other motif that appears is the smile – delicate pendants studded with turquoise and diamonds, the Gitane smile is both feminine and full of strength of emotion: the smile of a young Sophia Loren, or Claudia Cardinale, both of whom feature in Carolina’s collection mood board that she assembled while designing.
Finally, this is the first Carolina Bucci collection where earrings play such a large part. Bold hoops, expanding in concentric circles, or stems of gold that swing like pendulums, the earrings have one unifying theme: that of movement. As light as air, these cascading golden gems are the ultimate summer accessories.

Carolina Bucci for Dianora Salviati

Alongside the Gitane collection, Carolina has designed an exclusive range of cashmere scarves that echo her signature silk and gold jewellery, mixing a sfumato wash of coloured cashmere with herringbone-patterned sparkling lurex thread

Carolina is proud to produce these scarves alongside renowned scarf designer Dianora Salviati, linking up with another woman committed to the traditions of Italian craftsmanship. Dianora's workshops are based in Tuscany, a short drive from Florence, where all of her scarves are made by hand

Available from Carolina Bucci, Motcomb Street, London
