Tiffany & Co. Celebrates the 2014 Blue Book at the Guggenheim Museum

Renowned Jeweler Ignites the Night with a Brilliant Display of Light and Beauty

NEW YORK, NY (April 10, 2014) -- Celebrating with all the glamour of its great heritage, Tiffany & Co. tonight unveiled its 2014 Blue Book at an event that transformed the Guggenheim Museum into a pantheon of colors that filled the museum’s soaring rotunda.
One of New York City’s leading cultural institutions, the Guggenheim is revered for its modern and contemporary collection. Frank Lloyd Wright’s clean, curvaceous architecture is the ideal setting for Blue Book’s spectacular creations, the epitome of the jeweler’s art.
Gemstones were key to the international renown Tiffany enjoys today, over 175 years after its founding in New York City. Blue Book is the supreme showcase for these rare treasures, and on this night they burst into bloom like spring’s dramatic awakening.
The approximately 300 guests, including Jessica Biel, Kate Bosworth, Katie Holmes, Hilary Rhoda and Jessica Joffe stepped into an atmosphere sparkling with gems of pure, saturated color—vibrant blue and green, sunny yellow, fiery red, pink and purple—handcrafted in designs as diverse and exuberant as nature itself. Among them were flowers of fancy color sapphires shimmering on a necklace of platinum vines, and an electrifying blue cuprian tourmaline framed by a diamond necklace. Other creations included a cuff of 18k white gold set with seamless waves of blue sapphires and diamonds; Jean Schlumberger’s lavish rings with rubellite, aquamarine and turquoise; and fluid earrings and a bracelet of lustrous Montana sapphires.
Tiffany highlighted this dazzling kaleidoscope with rarest fancy color and white diamonds, hand cut and set in jewels of ultimate style and excellence. Among these were an internally flawless 15.04-carat Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond ring; Art Deco-inspired bangles with yellow and white diamonds; a drape necklace with over 140 carats of exquisite stones; and opulent diamond and platinum rings.
Blue Book’s many colors and creative energy culminated in “ The Diamond Sky,”  a one-night-only sound and light installation by the Leo Kuelbs Collection. This moving spectacle led with mesmerizing imagery of Blue Book’s jewels in three-dimensional forms that enveloped the museum’s rotunda. The faceted gems glowed ever brighter, making way for breathtaking projections of the Tiffany Diamond, icon of Tiffany’s diamond legacy, followed by a rendering of Tiffany’s Fifth Avenue flagship store and New York City’s glittering skyline. These touchstones of a brilliant heritage floated upward, shifting in space and morphing into stars, capping an unforgettable night when the world’s most magnificent jewels came to light with the magic of dreams.
Tiffany & Co. operates jewelry stores and manufactures products through its subsidiary corporations. Its principal subsidiary is Tiffany and Company. The Company operates TIFFANY & CO. retail stores in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Japan and Europe, as well as in the United Arab Emirates and Russia. Charlotte Ronson

Born in London into an artistic family and raised in New York, Charlotte Ronson followed the tradition by developing her own unique style at an early age. In 2000, Ronson launched her first collection, C. Ronson, which gained instant recognition and the attention of renowned publications. In May 2002, Ronson opened her flagship boutique in New York’s hip Nolita neighborhood. In 2005 the collection was re-named “Charlotte Ronson” – a natural evolution of the brand and an accurate reflection of who Charlotte is and what she and her customer want to wear. As a fixture in the fabric of New York City life, Ronson has fostered many relationships with family and friends and developed a number of strategic partnerships resulting in innovative collaborationssuch as Shoshanna Made With Love Charlotte Ronson and Charlotte Ronson x Uniqlo. Known for her impeccable style and trendsetting designs, Ronson’s clothing and accessories have quickly become a favorite among such fashion forward celebrities, models and influencers including Blake Lively, Kirsten Dunst, Nicole Richie, Rihanna, Diane Kruger, Leighton Meester, and Kate Moss. Charlotte Ronson has become one of the most sought after American womenswear designers and her New York Fashion Week runway shows are a must see event. Her success has also lead to design deals with some of America’s largest, respected retailers and has catapulted her into the spotlight. In 2008, Ronson designed Play by C. Ronson, a diffusion line exclusive to Urban Outfitters, sold in over 100 of their retail stores nationwide and online. Ronson and JCPenney have signed a long-term deal with the Texas-based retailer with a full contemporary sportswear collection. I [Heart] Ronson for JCPenney made its debut in Spring 2009 hitting 600 of Penney’s stores as well as their online site and catalogues. In 2011 Charlotte Ronson was inducted into the CFDA and launched the Charlotte Ronson Beauty line with Sephora and in 2012 Charlotte Ronson launched the Charlotte Ronson handbag collection with Artisan House.

FALL / WINTER 2014

Charlotte Ronson’s Fall / Winter 2014 collection is a modern take on Little Lord Fauntleroy. This season tells the story of a cryptic and cute woman compelled by mystery and darkness. Ronson's handsome, feminine collection reprises her signature scalloped details, now accenting richly tailored separates: bouclé cropped sweaters, laser-cut leather dresses, A-line jackets, and black-on-black leather rose embroidery is complimented by elaborate lace, ruffles, sheer chiffon and mesh inserts. Ronson's protagonist-muse is creative, smart, just a little bit spooky, and a hopeless romantic, as evidenced by the flower prints throughout the collection: poppies on plush velvet and tangles of rose print on crepes.

Hello New York!

Sonntag 12–6 Uhr

109 Crosby Street, SoHo, New York City – is the location of the very first MYKITA Shop in the US. The shop concept of the Berlin-based eyewear specialists unites the company’s own design principles with optical precision made in Germany.
The architecture of the MYKITA Shop is based on the progressive composition of different elements and contrasting materials. The unique concept is a marriage of three underlying features: mass-produced, ready-made objects removed from their original context, combined with purpose-designed furniture and a stage-like lighting concept. The result is an art installation with a bold and simple construction that retains the original character of the art deco factory building.
The primary design element of the shop interior is the all-white MYKITA Wall. It comprises perforated steel angle beads that are reinvented from their regular function as heavy-duty shelving supports. The resulting structure is backlit and serves as a presentation area giving the frames ample space to present themselves. Individual shelf elements inserted into the wall provide each model with its own little stage. In addition, out-of-service flight attendant trolleys that have circled the globe a thousand times are given a new lease of life here as a storage facility.
The integrated “Relaxed Vision Center” is a special lab equipped with state-of-the-art precision instruments from Carl Zeiss research. Customers can consult the MYKITA in-house optometrist, who generates customized optical profiles and performs an exact adaptation of frame and lens to the wearer’s face. Quality, precision and products “made in Germany” are the common themes behind the partnership of MYKITA with the worldrenowned optical solutions specialist Zeiss.
At night, when even NYC is alleged to sleep, the ceiling is lit up by a fluorescent-tube construct. The light installation is aligned with the old metal pipes from the original sprinkler system in a conscious reference to the building’s industrial heritage. This finishing touch unites the present with the architectural past.

New York is now home to the eighth MYKITA Shop worldwide – joining Berlin, Paris, Zurich, Vienna, Tokyo, Monterrey (Mexico) and Cartagena (Colombia).
The US accounts for around 20% of the international brand’s sales volume, making it one of the most important markets for the Berlin company.
