Individuality and eclecticism. Different worlds that merge and collide. The richness of diversity that is integral to the Marni aesthetic runs through the Resort 2015 collection. Sport and couture, the dynamism of short, geometric shapes and painterly flower prints, density and lightness are woven together with distinctive ease and a strong graphic touch.

 

A spontaneous energy charges the outfits, conveying an idea of luxurious athleticism. The silhouette is effortless, neat, fast. Geometric intarsia characterize the short dresses, the zip-up polo tops worn with a-line minis, the coat-dresses and leather pieces. Blooming motifs have a textural appeal: dense jacquards run on blousons and bermudas; bonded appliqué flowers decorate leather shifts. Colorful regatta stripes run rhythmically, further highlighting the sophisticated yet sporty feel: on crew neck tops with asymmetric hems matched with chiffon skirts creating layered, airy shadows; along the sides of wide trousers. The stress on firmness is balanced by a quest for softness: crepe de chine or chiffon tops worn with matching skirts are finished with crochet; long printed dresses or polo tunics paired with slim trousers have a fluid ease. Sculptural ruffles and embroideries decorate the agonistic short dresses.

 

The color palette is dense and personal: tones of rust, deep purple, deep green, aqua, and then cream, white and black with accents of primary brights. Fabric alternate compact firmness with impalpable airiness: bonded printed raffia, couture cotton, jacquard silk, bonded leather, cady, silk crepe, silk chiffon. Exotic flower prints and geometric motifs have a gestural quality:  Mokara orchids, fosteriana branches, big moonflowers alternate with bold stripes and intricate brushstrokes.

 

The collision of sport and couture also characterizes the accessories: technical running shoes closed with velcro straps, patent intarsia flats and hi-heels, fussbett sandals and kabuki-soled flats with fringes. Bags are small and structured or capacious and soft: the iconic Trunk is presented in opaque leather, while the Pod and City bags are interpreted in luxurious plain skins or geometric intarsia. Bijou have geometric shapes highlighted by resin rhinestones. Leather or resin layers draw shapes of flowers on necklaces and broaches. Prada Menswear Fall/Winter 2014 Campaign

Annie Leibovitz photographs Golden Globe nominated James McAvoy for the Prada menswear fall/winter campaign.

A leading man of cinema and style, McAvoy has been celebrated for his outstanding performances in The Last King of Scotland, Atonement and Filth, as well as the star-studded X-Men franchise. In him Leibovitz finds a charismatic and unpredictable conspirator, an introspective hero who brings an effortless intimacy and individuality to the menswear collection.

The conversation between Prada and architecture is constant. The show space in January was designed as an experimental and informal stage for performance. As if in a theatre characters, set, music and costume came together to form an experience – open to the interpretation of the audience provocatively placed around, above and within the show space. From the orchestra pit concert group L’Usignolo performed music from Pina Bausch shows and the songs of Kurt Weill.

Here McAvoy’s theatre is formed of concrete and stone, the austere landscape shot in black and grey, an homage to the German avant-garde. Concrete staircases, stone paving and a rocky coast swept by a grey sea bring a certainty and magnitude to the atmosphere of the photographs. Against this backdrop

Leibovitz and McAvoy interpret the Prada man a play of multiple acts.

Defiant tailoring, winter coats, utilitarian jackets and shirts with contrasting collars balance the personal and the stylized. A slim, sleek silhouette inspired by uniforms, especially those of military bands, brings an eccentric elegance.

Gabardine, silk twill, mohair-silk blend and crepe de chine textures contrast the austere surroundings.

The dramatic effect is an experimental narrative of bold and exceptional individuality.

Campagna Prada Uomo Autunno/Inverno 2014

Annie Leibovitz fotografa James McAvoy, attore nominato ai Golden Globe, per la campagna Prada Uomo Autunno/Inverno 2014.

Personaggio di spicco nel mondo del cinema e simbolo di eleganza, McAvoy è conosciuto dal grande pubblico per le sue singolari interpretazioni in L’ultimo re di Scozia, Espiazione, Il lercio e in due dei titoli della serie X-Men, a fianco di un cast stellare. In lui Annie Leibovitz vede un cospiratore carismatico e imprevedibile, un eroe dedito all’introspezione che infonde alla collezione uomo un senso di disinvolta e spontanea intimità.

Il dialogo tra Prada e l’architettura è costante. A gennaio, lo spazio sfilata era stato trasformato in un palcoscenico informale e sperimentale. Come a teatro, i personaggi, la scenografia, la musica e i costumi si erano fusi per far vivere un’esperienza aperta all’interpretazione del pubblico, provocatoriamente disposto nello spazio e l’orchestra L’Usignolo aveva eseguito dalle ‘buche’ musica tratta dagli spettacoli di Pina Bausch e brani di Kurt Weill.

Qui, il teatro in cui si muove McAvoy è fatto di cemento e pietra e l’austero paesaggio fotografato in nero e grigio vuole essere un tributo all’avanguardia tedesca. Le scalinate in cemento, la pavimentazione in pietra e il litorale roccioso, battuto da un mare grigio, infondono alle immagini un senso di calma e certezza. Su questo sfondo, Annie Leibovitz interpreta la collezione come una rappresentazione articolata in molteplici atti.

Il taglio sartoriale ribelle, i soprabiti invernali, le giacche e le camicie con risvolti a contrasto creano un perfetto equilibrio tra il personale e lo stilizzato.

Una silhouette sottile, ispirata alle uniformi con dettagli che richiamano lo stile militare, si traduce un’eleganza eccentrica. Gabardine, twill di seta, mohair –seta e crêpe de chine contrastano con un’atmosfera austera. L'effetto drammatico è una narrazione sperimentale di un’individualità audace ed eccezionale.

A cosmos shimmering with unknown possibility, travel into space once beckoned the imagination of science and exploration. Astronauts were the pioneers of the next frontier. This romantic and optimistic view of space adventures influenced design and fantasy to create a bold new aesthetic.
Nostalgic ideas of futurism shape the Diesel Black Gold women’s fall winter 2014 collection. Melded with the realities of space travel,the look this season explores the tension between the past and the future to create a wardrobe built for survival against the elements.
Pieces are engineered to articulate the silhouette. Shapes are defined with texture play of laminated lacquered and metallic surfaces against classic wool felt and flannels, Prince of Wales check, leathers and silks.
Iconic elements from an astronaut’s suit are infused into parkas and hooded jackets constructed from leathers and cotton twill with shearling linings. Pants are anatomically cut from leather, flannel and coated cotton with engineered seams to enhance the leg.
Bustier and shift mini dresses, tops and pleated skirts feature structured fabric combinations of scuba neoprene, cady and compact jersey. Studded metal discs and zippers embellish designs resemble futuristic armor; their knife pleats giving graphic movement. A twisted georgette and merino knit combo dress skims the body with a diagonal zip and horizontal pleats.
Key Diesel Black Gold DNA, denim and leather, are given futuristic treatments of filmy coatings and lacquered finishes. Glistening linear patterns are revealed on jeans.
Accessories accompany bold travelers through new frontiers: metal toecap flat boots with front zippers and multiple buckles and sleek metal trimmed pumps are crafted from box calf. Mirrored metal discs are appliqued to structured blackbags that hang from the shoulder. Metal plaque belts anchor the hips.

The palette is contained in monochromatic colors and metallics: black, white, charcoal, silver and gunmetal.
